Origin of goldfish
Modern Goldfish also are known as Carassius auratus in scientific terminology is a relatively small member of the “carp” family. Initially, they have originated from East Asia, mainly in ancient China. In the beginning, they were not a cute pet like for us. Instead, they took these Goldfish as their food. According to some knowledge sources they have cultivated Goldfish as food.
There are about 200 breeds of Goldfish. Some of these breeds are Oranda, Ranchu, Ryukin, Common Goldfish, Comet, Fantail, Black telescope, Shubunkin, Veiltail, Bubble eye, Wakin and Lionchu, etc. These were some common breeds, but there are some more out there.

Natural Environment of Goldfish
In wild these fish living in slow-moving rivers, ponds and freshwater bodies. But now we can see most of Goldfishes are living in domestic places rather than in the wild. So we can consider them as a private group of animals.
So, if you want to grow your Goldfish inside a tank, pond, or whatever you must let them freely move, which means you must provide a considerably large tank for them.
Typically Goldfish do need 20 – 30 gallons of water. Fish adopting experts recommend 42 gallons of water for 2 fish. And also 12 gallons of water for each additional fish you add to your tank.
When we consider the temperature required for the survival of the fish inside your tank, it’s better to maintain 65 – 72 degrees of Fahrenheit as the ideal temperature. When the temperature is too “high” they will be stressed and overheated. And under 60 degrees they become more lethargic and inactive. And they do stop eating too.
It’s better to establish a “beneficial bacterial colonies” to enhance the life span and healthiness of your Goldfish. This is called the “cycling process”, and you must probably hear of that if you are familiar with fish adoption and breeding.
When feeding feed only 2-3 times per day. If not the tank can be contaminated with excessive ammonia content, and it makes water more poisonous to fish. And you will have to clean the tank more often than you usually should do it. Always only give your fish food that it can eat under nearly about 2 minutes. Usually, Goldfish can survive about 8 days to 2 weeks without any food. But it’s better to ask someone to care about those guys if you wish to leave your house than one week.
When considering the tank, you keep your fish, must be cleaned once a week. When cleaning your tank, you must remove water partially and add new water while maintaining the same old water. Otherwise, it’ll kill fish since they can’t tolerate that sudden change in their environment. When completely cleaning your tank rather than changing water, remove 1/3 rd of the greywater to another container and put fish into that container. And add new water to the tank and mix old water with it.
